In just 7 months from January to July, 117 hindus have been killed in various ways under the misrule of Sheikh Hasina. As always, the Awami League government attacked the Hindu community and systematically victimized the Hindus to take political advantage.

Advocate Gobind Chandra Pramanik, Secretary General of Bangladesh National Hindu Mahazot, gave this information at a press conference organized on Friday (August 23) at the Nasrul Hamid  Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) on the misrule of the Awami League government led by Sheikh Hasina.

Commenting that the Hindu society of Bangladesh has been deprived and exploited for a long time, he said that in 1947, 33 percent Hindus were in this country. Which has come to only 7.95 percent today. In the last 15 years, Awami League made the Hindu society a victim for its own interests, attacked, vandalized and set fire to thousands of Hindu houses, monasteries and temples, spreading fear and forcing thousands of Hindus to leave the country in a planned manner.

The Bangladesh National Hindu Mahazot made two demands for a permanent solution to the problem of persecution of minorities. They are – reserved seats in the national parliament and separate election system for minorities and establishing a separate ministry for minority affairs.

In this regard, if these two demands are implemented, no party will be able to use the Hindu community as a political tool. Hindu community will not be victimized by elections or change of government. No one can make the Hindu community a victim and take political advantage.

At that time, after the resignation of Sheikh Hasina and her flight abroad, the homes and businesses of Awami League’s Hindu leaders and activists were attacked by the Hindu Mahazot. Besides, they said, from August 6 till now, 132 moderate Hindu communities were attacked and about 1000 families were victims of silent extortion. These include hostilities and land disputes. 43 temples were vandalized.

In the last 15 years, village after village has been burnt in a planned manner in Nasirnagar of Brahmanbaria, Abhaynagar of Jessore, Shalla of Sunamganj, Hathazari of Chittagong, Raujan Fatikchari, Siali of Khulna, Pirganj of Rangpur, Comilla, Chandpur, Chaumuhani, Sirajganj, Satkhira. Hundreds of monasteries and temples were demolished, set on fire and incinerated. But the government did not arrest and prosecute the real perpetrators of those incidents. The Awami League government as always attacked the Hindu community and systematically victimized the Hindus to take political advantage.

They demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those involved in these incidents. He also demanded compensation for the victims and construction of the destroyed temple at government expense.
