Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan, Assistant Secretary-General and member of the Central Executive Council of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, said, “The genocide of Jews in Gaza is the most heinous and vile war crime and crime against humanity in world history. The terrorist state of Israel has no moral right to exist on the world map. We call on the world leaders to raise their voices in opposition to Israel and in support of humanity. Palestine will be freed by the blood of martyrs, and Al-Aqsa will remain in the hands of Muslims.”

He made this statement while addressing the protest rally and march organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Chittagong City at the northern gate of Andarkilla Shahi Jame Mosque on Monday at 5 PM, in protest against the Israeli genocide in Gaza. After the rally, the procession circled various roads in the city and ended at New Market Circle.

During the rally, slogans such as “Takbeer, Allahu Akbar; Why is the UN silent on attacks in Palestine? Why is the UN silent on attacks in Gaza? Jihad, Jihad, Jihad, we want jihad, we want to live through jihad, Unity of the Muslim world, Free Palestine, Muslims of the world unite and fight jihad, Revolution, Islamic revolution; Destroy Israel’s base; Wake up, Muslim blood flows in Palestine; Stop the genocide in Palestine; Immediately ban Israeli products; Boycott terrorist Israel” were raised, and placards and banners with these slogans were carried.

The protest rally was presided over by Shahjahan Chowdhury, former whip of the parliamentary party, Chittagong city Amir, and former MP, and was conducted by Muhammad Nurul Amin, member of the Central Shura and Secretary of Chittagong City. Other speakers included Dr. A. Z. M. Obayedullah, Deputy Amir of Chittagong City, Muhammad Nazrul Islam, Assistant Secretary of Chittagong City, Muhammad Ullah, Faisal Muhammad Yunus, Mohammad Morshedul Islam Chowdhury, Organizational Secretary and former councilor Shamsuzzaman Helali, Executive Council Member Dr. Muhammad Siddiqur Rahman, President of the Labor Welfare Federation of Chittagong City S. M. Lutfor Rahman, among others.

In his speech, Maulana Muhammad Shahjahan stated, “On October 7, 2023, in the name of eliminating Hamas, the occupying Israeli forces launched an aggression on Gaza. Since then, a massacre has been taking place in Gaza. Brutal genocide has been carried out in every part of Gaza, and more than 50,000 Palestinians have been killed, with women and children being the most affected. The victims include media personnel, relief workers, and healthcare staff. The bodies of those killed by Israeli bombs were seen rising in the air and falling back to the ground. On Sunday night, at least 46 people were killed in Israeli attacks, including 21 people in the city of Jah, including a father and his daughter. Additionally, at least six people died in an attack on a refugee camp in the southern region.”

He continued, “In the past, when Israel attacked Palestine, there was a protest from the Middle East. Now, that doesn’t happen because the Middle East has also become a part of capitalism. So, our fight is against the capitalist and imperialist system. The support of American imperialism is clear. It is because of Donald Trump that these brutal events are happening today.”

In his speech, the chairman, Alhaj Shahjahan Chowdhury, stated, “If Muslim countries do not unite, it will not be possible to free Palestine. The reason there is no unity among Muslims is because these countries do not have Islamic governments. If the countries had Islamic governments, Muslims would have had the opportunity to unite.”

Also present at the event were city executive council members Abu Hena Mustafa Kamal, Abu Bakar Siddiq, Maulana Mamatajur Rahman, Amir Hossein, Hamed Hasan Ilahi, Dr. Abu Naser, a candidate for the Chittagong-8 parliamentary seat, and others.
