The United Nations Award is a combined achievement of under the leadership of Prime Minister

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, MP, mentioned the Land Minitry’s winning of ‘United Nations Public Service Award-2020’ as a joint and unanimous achievement of the country and the nation under the leadership of the Prime Minister.

Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said this through online from his office in a press conference organized by the Ministry of Land on the occasion of receiving the ‘United Nations Public Service Award-2020′ through the Zoom Video Conference today. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP was present at the online press conference as a special guest.

Land Minister further said that digitization of land services has become much easier due to the comprehensive digital structure put up by the government while congratulatiing Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Prime Minister’s ICT Affairs Adviser Sajeeb.

The land minister said e-mutation piloting started in 2016 as a continuation of the Digital Bangladesh master plan adopted in 2009. From July 1, 2019, except for the three hill districts, the implementation of hundread percent e-mutation started simultaneously all over the country. After receiving the UN award, we have to take all possible measures to keep up the recognition as our responsibility has increased.

The land minister added that the introduction of e-mutation in the land office has resulted in less time and less cost to get the services – which has increased citizen satisfaction and reduced the chances of tout’ violence and field corruption. The Land Minister thanked all concerned for e-nmutation.

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak, MP said, “Digital Bangladesh” is basically a ‘story of transformation’. We are working to bring land sector services to the doorsteps of the people, that is, to deliver land services at the fingertips, as like as in other sectors including education and health.

At that time, Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that work has been taken to provide fixed broadband connection in about 3617 land offices.

Earlier, the a2i project director Dr. Md Abdul Mannan presented an illustrated report on the e-Mutation project.

Land Secretary Md. Muksodur Rahman Patwary who moderated the press conference on the occasion of receiving this prestigious award of the United Nations, congratulated all concerned including the Land Reform Board, ICT Division, a2i, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and all working at the field level. According to the land secretary, this is the first time that the United Nations has given an award to a ministry in Bangladesh for the public services.

Senior Secretary of ICT Division N M Zeaul Alam PAA, Sheikh Yusuf Harun, Ministry of Public Administration Secretary Shaikh Yusuf Harun , Land Reforms Board Chairman Md. Yaqub Ali Patwari, and Dhaka Divisional Commissioner MD Mustafizur Rahman Dhaka addressed the press conference.

Chairman of Land Appeal Board Ummul Hasna, a2i Policy Adviser Anir Chowdhury, Director-General of Land Records and Surveys Md. Taslimul Islam,  all the Divisional Commissioners were present. Invited Deputy Commissioners of several districts, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, Assistant Commissioners (Land) were also present  – they spoke about their work experience at the field level. Finally, the land minister answered various questions of the journalists present online.

It is to be noted that in recognition of the implementation of e-mutation initiatives across the country, the Ministry of Land has received the ‘United Nations Public Service Award 2020’ in the category of ‘Development of Transparent and Accountable Government Institutions’.
