Bangladesh Embassy in Seoul celebrated the ‘Bangladesh Armed Forces Day 2025’ on 21 November 2025 with due solemnity. The Embassy hosted a reception in a local hotel on this occasion where representatives from the Korean Defense Ministry, senior military officials and diplomats and defense Attache from diplomatic missions accredited to the Republic of Korea participated. Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil and the Defense Attache Air Commodore A T M Habibur Rahman, welcomed the guests to the event.
The program began with the playing of the national anthems of the Republic of Korea and the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. Then a short documentary on the activities of Bangladesh armed forces was screened.
Defense Attache Air Commodore A T M Habibur Rahman, briefed the audience about the valiant role of Bangladesh armed forces during the Liberation War in 1971. The Defense Attache also highlighted the contributions of Bangladesh armed forces in nation-building activities, disaster management, and internal security duties.
Bangladesh Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Toufiq Islam Shatil, paid his deep homage to the fallen heroes from the Bangladesh armed forces who made their supreme sacrifices for the independence of the country and for the global peace and stability in last 54 years.
Mentioning Bangladesh peace-centric foreign policy and its efforts to maintain global peace and security, the Ambassador highlighted the role of Bangladesh armed forces in contributing to global peace by actively participating in UN peacekeeping and peace support initiatives all over the world as one of the top troop contributing countries. Bangladeshi peacekeepers have earned good reputation everywhere due to their professionalism, discipline and empathy to local population, he added.
The Ambassador highlighted the excellent bilateral relationship including the growing cooperation in defense sectors between Bangladesh and the Republic of Korea.
After the speeches, a commemorative cake was cut to celebrate the occasion. Guests were then invited to a buffet featuring a variety of Bangladeshi and Korean delicacies.
