In Bangladesh, seven Hindus have been killed in 19 days

বাংলাদেশে ১৯ দিনে ৭ হিন্দু খুন

In Bangladesh, seven Hindus have been killed in 19 days. From the incident of Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka on December 18, 2025, to the shooting death of businessman-journalist Rana Pratap Bairagi in Monirampur, Jessore on January 6, 2026. On the same day in Naogaon, Mithun Sarkar jumped into a pond to escape a mob lynching and died. A day earlier, on January 5, businessman Mani Chakraborty was hacked to death by miscreants in Narsingdi.

There is no reason to think this caravan of death has ended. At any time, the so-called Touhidi mob may attack Hindus in the name of protecting religion or simply upon seeing a red sacred thread tied on someone’s hand. In Bangladesh, any excuse is enough to kill a Hindu. But how long will this continue? In this country, the government, administration, media, courts, and even the public—none stand with the Hindus.

The Hindu community in Bangladesh is living in constant fear. A nation cannot survive while living in fear. To survive, there is no alternative for Hindus but to build resistance. In the words of Bangabandhu, build fortresses in every home; whatever one has must be used to confront the enemy. The end of 2025 passed amid protests and demonstrations against the brutal killing of Dipu.

On the very first day of the new year, we woke up to see Khokon Das, 50, attacked—his body set on fire. Another attempt was made to burn a Hindu alive. Khokon was beaten and set ablaze. To save his life, he jumped into water. In the hospital, everything ended on January 3—Khokon died. His wife Seema Rani Das said, “They burned my husband alive. I watched him suffer in the hospital for three days. How can I ever forget that sight?”

To save his life, Mithun Sarkar also jumped into a pond on the 25th, but he could not survive—he drowned. Later, the fire service recovered his body. The incident took place on January 6. In Mahadevpur, Naogaon, a group of people chased him shouting “thief, thief.” Whether Mithun had actually stolen anything, no one knows. To escape the frenzied mob, he jumped into the pond—and that was the end. His father is hearing-impaired and is now devastated after losing his only son.

Rana Pratap Bairagi was shot dead in Monirampur, Jessore, on January 6, 2026. Bairagi was both a businessman and the acting editor of Daily BD Khabor. Just a day earlier, on January 5, businessman Mani Chakraborty was murdered. Mani was a resident of Narsingdi and owned a grocery shop. Some terrorists suddenly attacked him inside the shop with sharp weapons. He died on the way to the hospital.

Brajendra Biswas, 42, was killed by a colleague. He worked as a security guard at a garment factory. The incident occurred at Labib Group Factory in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, on December 28, 2025. The killer colleague was Noman Mia, 29. Noman told his coworker Brajen Biswas, “Shall I shoot you?” Moments later, Brajen Das was killed by Noman’s gunfire. Both were members of the Ansar force.

Amrit Mondal Samrat, 30, was killed on Wednesday, December 24, 2025. He had been accused of extortion. The incident took place in Rajbari, where a frenzied mob beat him to death. Earlier, on December 18, on the false pretext of insulting Islam, the Touhidi mob first lynched garment worker Dipu Chandra Das in Bhaluka, then dragged him, hung him from a tree, and burned him alive.

However, Gobinda Biswas was luckier—despite severe mob beating, he survived. The incident occurred on December 19, 2025, in Jhenaidah. Gobinda is a rickshaw puller. He had a red sacred thread tied on his hand, which Hindus often wear during religious festivals—one that can even be seen on Amitabh Bachchan’s wrist. Seeing the red thread, the Touhidi mob assumed he was an “R” agent, an Indian spy. That was enough—the beating began. The police eventually arrived and saved him.

I will end this writing with the barbaric abuse of a Hindu widow in Kaliganj. The woman lives with her young son. Two Muslim men raped her. Afterwards, they spread false accusations against her, tied her to a tree, and cut her hair. They then circulated the video on social media. The woman’s name has not been disclosed; she is 40 years old. One of the accused is named Shaheen, the other his accomplice. The rape took place inside the woman’s own home, after locking her son in another room.
