Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury handed over three fire safety cushions (Inflatable Rescue Cushion) to the Honorable Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina this morning at her office. Later, the Prime Minister handed over fire cushions to the Director-General Fire Service and Civil Defense Department Brigadier General Md Sazzad Hussain. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan was present at the event.
Fire safety cushions are used to rescue people from high-rise buildings. In the event of a fire in a building or another accident, it is possible to save lives by jumping over the safety cushion from the highrise building. Emergency service providers in developed countries are regularly using these types of safety cushions in the emergency.
Later in the afternoon, the Minister chaired two meetings held at the conference room in the Bangladesh Secretariat. Land Secretary Md. Muksodur Rahman Patwary was present at that time.
(Jal Mahal Lease meeting)
At the meeting of the Committee on Issuing Jal Mahal Lease, the Minister said, any sort of syndicate against the public interest will not be tolerated in Jal Mahal leasing. We are working to collect rightly revenue through the proper management of the Jal Mahal, as well as the rights of the bonafide fishermen. Syndicate established for the ulterior motive. Syndicate, created for dishonest purposes for leasing Jal Mahal, has declined than previous days. It will gradually disappear.
“We will take legal action if we find evidence of illegal syndicate of any kind,” the land minister warned.
Representatives of the Ministry of Fisheries and Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of the concerned district were present at the meeting.
(Divisional commissioner’s coordination meeting)
In addition, a respective officer in the divisional commissioner’s coordination meeting informed that a total of 693.65 acres of agricultural land has been provided to 2041 landless families till October of 2019-20 financial year. A total of 7,214 acres of agricultural land has been provided to 14,509 landless families in the financial year 2018-19.
The land minister directed the divisional commissioners to ensure that no affectees of land acquisition are getting harassed in the process of receiving their compensation payment.
Additional secretaries of the Ministry of Land, including other officials and heads of various agencies and their representatives and the divisional commissioners attended the meeting.
