Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the following message on the occasion of the World Tourism Day 2020 :

“I am delighted that World Tourism Day 2020 is being observed in Bangladesh as elsewhere in the world on 27 September with the theme “Tourism and Rural Development”.

“Village will be City” one of the agenda of indomitable Bangladesh in forefront of development which is very much inline with the theme announced by the United Nation World Tourism Organization this year.

Bangladesh is a land of scenic beauty with rich culture and heritage. It is also rich in floras and faunas, and has numerous rivers, archaeological sites,” religious places, hills, forests, waterfalls, tea gardens etc. The world’s largest mangrove forest – the Sundarbans is situated in Bangladesh.

The largest unbroken sandy sea beach in the world is also located in Bangladesh’s Cox’s Bazar. The vast haors in the north-eastern parts of the country, the hills in Chittagong division and lives of small ethnic people are some of the attractions of the tourists. The emerald greens of rural Bangladesh and its rich culture can also be an added attraction for the holiday-makers.

Tourism has a huge potentiality in Bangladesh. Of late, it has emerged as an important sector of economic development with more and more domestic and foreign tourists are visiting the country’s tourists’ destinations. Huge employment opportunities are being created in the sector. The Awami League government has relentlessly been working for the development of tourism sector.

The present government has taken various steps to manage tourism activities through proper management maintaining the country’s culture, heritage and ecology.

The tourist destinations should be introduced to local and foreign tourists through mass media. I urge the private entrepreneurs to supplement the government efforts in flourishing the sector.

Let us work together and build a Golden Bangladesh as dreamt by the Father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

I wish every success of the “World Tourism Day-2020”

Joi Bangla, Joi Bangabandhu

May Bangladesh Live Forever.”
