The United States has threatened to cut off arms supplies to Israel if it conducts a ground operation in Rafah. The Biden administration made this announcement despite being a staunch supporter of Israel’s aggression policy in Gaza. After that, rumors of cold relations between the two countries spread. However, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the issue of US arms supply will be resolved very soon.
He informed his cabinet on Sunday.
Last May, US President Joe Biden announced that if Rafah is attacked, he will freeze some weapons shipments, including artillery shells. He also suspended a bomb shipment to Gaza for fear of civilian deaths. In response to such a decision of the United States, Netanyahu countered, “If necessary… we will stand alone.” If necessary, we will fight with our nails.
At the Israeli weekly cabinet meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said that the situation with arms supply will “improve dramatically”.
“For weeks, we have been appealing to our American friends to speed up arms shipments,” he added. We have done this time and time again. We discussed it in senior ranks and emphatically at all levels. We got all kinds of explanations, but we didn’t get one (arms supply) thing.
Netanyahu is optimistic that the situation will improve soon. At the same time they will understand the shipment of necessary weapons from the United States.
On October 7, the Palestinian armed independence organization Hamas killed 1,200 people by attacking Israel. They took at least 252 hostages to Gaza. In response, Israel has been carrying out indiscriminate killings across Gaza for the past 8 months.
Israel has been fighting with Hamas in Gaza for the past 8 months. Many of Israel’s old allies turned their backs on them during this long war. But India is a country that stands by them as a true friend even in this difficult time. India has supplied Israel with artillery shells, light weapons and drones since the start of the war in Gaza. Arabic media outlet Shafaq News, citing a report by Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth, said that information first surfaced last February that India was sending Hyderabad-made “Hermes 900” drones to Israel.
A factory has been set up in Hyderabad in collaboration with Israel to supply these Israeli drones to the Indian Army. The factory is a joint venture with Israeli defense company Elbit Systems and a company headed by Indian industrialist Gautam Adani. From this factory, 20 drones were sent to the Israeli army during the conflict in Gaza.
The report suggested that this important decision may have the approval of senior Indian officials. Also there, it is said that India’s shipment of ammunition and other weapons since the beginning of the conflict with Hamas reflects the growing strategic partnership between the two countries. Which proved to be very beneficial for Israel.
Israel helped in Kargil War: In this context, former Israeli ambassador to India, Daniel Karmon, referred to the historic incident of New Delhi’s cooperation when Israel helped India in the Kargil war against Pakistan in 1999 by providing important military supplies. Meanwhile, the newspaper said in its report that the Gaza conflict has tested the friendship between India and Israel. where many of Israel’s allies suffered defeat. But India maintained its strong position.
America also withdraws hands: India’s support to Israel is crucial. Because Tel Aviv’s absolute friend, America, has recently banned arms shipments. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu publicly complained this week that the U.S. administration is blocking arms deliveries to them in time of war.
