Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, MP expressed his sincere condolence at the death of language activist, freedom fighter, a senior leader of Bangladesh Awami League, former Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, MP.
Land Minister said, “Language activist Shamsur Rahman Sherif actively participated in the historic struggle for our national liberation in 1971. Later, he also played a strong role in the anti-autocratic movement to restore democracy. At his demise, the country and nation lost a prominent statesman and humanitarian.”
The land minister also said, “Under the direction of the Hon’ble Prime Minister, the new era in the land management, that is, digitalization work commenced during the tenure of former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif. His contribution will be remembered through his participation as a shrewd statesman in every major mass movement of the post-colonial era of this land.”
In a condolence message land minister prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed profound sympathy to his bereaved family members.
It is to be noted that Saifuzzaman Chowdhury served as the state minister of the land ministry during late Shamsur Rahman Sherif’s incumbency as the land minister in 2014-19. He passed away while undergoing treatment at the Dhaka United Hospital at 5 am on today Thursday.
