Advocate Suman Kumar Roy, the founding General Secretary of the Bangladesh Sanatan Party (BHP), stated that the Sanatani community has been oppressed and persecuted under every government in Bangladesh. None of the regimes have granted them their rightful place or rights. Instead, Sanatanis have consistently been used as vote banks or scapegoats by various political parties. He emphasized that once the Bangladesh Sanatan Party receives official registration, the Sanatani community will no longer be used as a vote bank, and no one will be able to assume power by ignoring them.

He made these remarks during a discussion meeting and party workers’ conference organized by the Bangladesh Sanatan Party (BHP) at the Abdus Salam Hall of the National Press Club in Dhaka on Friday morning. The event focused on the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the implementation of the previously announced 8-point demands of the Sanatani community, and discussions around party registration.

Speakers at the event called on the Chief Advisor of the interim government to urgently ensure the release of Chinmoy Krishna Das and to implement the Sanatani community’s 8-point charter of demands.

Advocate Suman further said that the persecution of Sanatanis in Bangladesh is not new. Although the country gained independence in 1971, the Sanatani community has never truly been free. They remain neglected and oppressed. No government has ever seriously considered their security. Every ruling party has used the minority Sanatani community for political gain. False accusations, including allegations of blasphemy, are routinely used to justify oppression against Sanatanis.

He stressed that the 8-point demands are entirely apolitical and concern basic rights. The Hindu community has approached every government with these demands, but no administration has responded to them with sincerity.

Regarding the detention of Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari, the BHP leader explained that the rally in Laldighi, Chattogram, was held to demand the rights outlined in their apolitical 8-point charter. To sabotage this peaceful movement, certain vested interests are filing false cases to harass the Hindu community. Chinmoy Krishna Das has been kept in prison for a long time based on such false accusations. As peace-loving and rational people, Sanatanis demand his immediate release and an end to his harassment.

On the current demands, Suman reiterated, ‘Our 8-point demand is not against the government. These are the life-and-death demands of a persecuted community in an independent country. They are demands for our existence. No matter how many obstacles come our way, we will continue to fight for our rights. And for that, Sanatanis must unite.’

He said that the Bangladesh Sanatan Party has always stood by minorities and worked for their welfare. If this party is approved, the Sanatani community will no longer have to remain behind or follow others. The Sanatani force will assert its political identity through the Bangladesh Sanatan Party.

The event was chaired by BHP President Ashish Kumar Das and conducted by founding General Secretary Advocate Suman Kumar Roy. Among the distinguished guests were-Monindra Kumar Nath, Acting General Secretary of the Bangladesh Hindu-Buddhist-Christian Unity Council (Chief Guest), Professor Ashok Taru (Inaugurator), Columnist Suranjan Ghosh (Keynote Speaker), Anik Roy, Joint Convener of the Bangladesh National Citizens’ Party (Special Guest), Advocate Jiten Barman, Shyamal Sarkar (from the Sanatan Parishad), Journalist Shyamal Kanti Nag, Advocate Liton Banik, Pranatosh Talukder, Mohan Sarkar, Dilip Adhikari, Anil Sadhu, Ajay Bhattacharya, General Secretary of BHP Chattogram District, Nayon Bishringri, Gouranga Dey, Shankar (General Secretary of Bangladesh Hindu League), Pradip Kanti Dey (President of the National Hindu Youth Alliance), Rony Rajbanshi, Piyush Das (Bangladesh National Hindu Mahasangh), Mithun Bhattacharya Shubho (Sanatan Organization), BHP members Sujit Das (Office Secretary), Joy Chakraborty, Bikash Adhikari, Amit Mali, Rahul, Bandhan Bagchi (Joypurhat), Shayan Bala, Jontu Jayanta, among many others.

In his speech, Chief Guest Monindra Kumar Nath said, ‘Despite repeated oppression of minorities in Bangladesh, every government continues to deny it. This is a national shame. To stop such persecution, a minority commission must be formed immediately, and fair and impartial investigations must be conducted, with justice ensured by the honorable advisors.’

BHP President Ashish Kumar Das said that the oppression against the Sanatani community is inherently political. Hence, to preserve the existence of Sanatanis, there is no alternative but to engage politically. For this reason, BHP workers must unite and work to strengthen the party and establish the political rights of Sanatanis.

As a special guest, Anik Roy, Joint Convener of the Bangladesh National Citizens’ Party, urged everyone to unite and work together to protect the identity of the Sanatani community and to build a new Bangladesh.
