Dipok Roy, Rangpur Correspondent : A MHV (Multipurpose Health Volunteer) was not allowed to join his post without any notice as two officials of the health department in Taraganj did not pay the demanded bribe.
The two accused officers are Rangpur Taraganj Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury (recently received standard release) and Upazila Health Incharge (Inspector) Md. A. Hi. On 31-12-2020, a CHCP lodged a written complaint with the Rangpur District Civil Surgeon alleging various irregularities including bribery. The Civil Surgeon formed a three-member inquiry committee to investigate the irregularities and corruption of the two officials. At the same time, the health department transferred Taraganj Upazila Health and PPA Officer Mustafa Zaman Chowdhury to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. On the other hand, the health inspectors involved in irregularities and corruption are still in office, and the complainants fear that the investigation may be hampered.
MHV deleted from Elahir Bazar Community Clinic of the upazila: Taslima Begum in another written complaint filed with Rangpur Civil Surgeon on January 10, it is known that she was arrested on April 26, 2020 in a false criminal case while working as MHV. He was released on bail after 3 months and 28 days. But Marjena Khatun called him Upazila Health Incharge Md. A. Salam and asked to contact the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer. Taslima Begum Health Incharge A. When contacted, Salam demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 from Taslima to rejoin him at one stage, turning him around on various pretexts. A. Salam’s bribery claim was made by Taslima CHCP and health officer Dr. When Mostafa Zaman Chowdhury was informed, he did not take into account the allegation of taking bribe and on the pretext of a criminal case, the health officer also started harassing him.
Taslima Begum can know through CHCP that a new person has been added to her MHV post. But without any notice or letter of resignation or removal from the MHV post, it was not understood how the new MHV was appointed on December 20, 2020, he said in a written complaint. He mentioned in his complaint that the conditions for MHV exemption or removal were clearly stated in column 7, “If someone is convicted or convicted in a criminal case”, he will lose his MHV status. But no conviction or conviction has been filed against Taslima so far.
Therefore, Taslima Begum lodged a written complaint with the Rangpur Civil Surgeon in this regard and demanded the authorities to take appropriate action against the accused officers and employees pending re-investigation and allow her to rejoin the MHV post.
Note that Health Inspector Abdus Salam has been working in Taraganj Upazila for a long time and has been harassing the officials and employees in various ways. Many have become impatient with his oppression.
