Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has given the following message on the occasion of the ‘National Productivity Day’:
“I am happy to know that the National Productivity Organization (NPO) under the Ministry of Industries is going to observe the ‘National Productivity Day-2020′ across the country on 2 October 2020. In the light of Mujib Year, I think the theme of the day titled ‘Productivity to build Golden Bangladesh as dreamt by the Father of the Nation’ has become appropriate.
The Greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman adopted vairus plans to build Bangladesh as an industrially developed country. In ofder to strengthen the industrial sector, he nationalized most of the large industrial factories after the independence of the country. Following the footsteps of Father of the Nation, the Awami League government has been working to increase investment in the industrial sector, maximize the productive capacity of existing industries through proper protection and make the export-oriented industries more competitive through multifaceted expansion.
Productiviy plays a very crucial role in economic development. In a bid to build productivity as a national movement, National Productivity Day is being observed on
2 October every year and the best industrial organizations are being given the ‘Natioinal Productivity and Quality Excellence Award’. In addition, in collaboration with the Asian Productivity Organization (APO), ‘Bangladesh National Productivity Master Plan-2021-2030’ has been formulated. With the implementation of this plan, I believe that productivity growth will increase from 3.6 percent to 5.7 percent, which will play a very important role in economic growth.
The current world economy is in turmoil due to Coronavirus pandemic. In this situation we have no choice but to increase productivity to survive in the global competition. We are on the verge of achieving Vision-2021. In addition, the government is committed to meeting the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030. Moreover, we have set a target of becoming a developed country by 2041. To achieve these goals, it is essential to increase productivity in all sectors.
I hope that celebration of the National Productivity Day will play an important role in accelerating the development of productivity and raising awareness among every citizen of the country about productivity.
I wish the ‘National Productivity Day-2020’ a grand success.
Joi Bangla, Joi Bangabandhu
May Bangladesh Live Forever.”
