Madaripur:Two beekeepers were killed after a truck lost control and overturned into a roadside canal in Rajoir Upazila of Madaripur district. The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Monday at the West Rajoir Borobridge Divider intersection on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway.
The deceased have been identified as Rana (27), son of Amjed from Bilbalia village,and Likhon (18), son of Muktar from Samarthabari village—both hailing from Sarishabari Upazila in Jamalpur district.
According to the Highway Police, Rana and Likhon were traveling from Jessore to the Ghatakchar area of Madaripur in a truck loaded with beehives for honey collection. Upon reaching the West Rajoir Borobridge area, the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plunge into a canal beside the highway. Both victims died on the spot. The driver of the truck fled the scene immediately after the accident.
Upon receiving the news, police from Mostafapur Highway Station arrived at the scene, recovered the bodies, and seized the truck.
Mamun Al Rashid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mostafapur Highway Police Station, stated that preparations are underway to hand over the bodies to their respective families. Legal action regarding the accident is currently in progress.
