Chief Election Commissioner KM Nurul Huda on Thursday said, there is no need of army deployment in the impending Rangpur City Corporation polls.
The election will be held in a festive mood and it will be free, fair and credible, the CEC told journalist after a meeting with the various law enforcement agencies and election officials at divisional commissioner’s office in Rangpur.
Mobile court is currently operating under the leadership of 22 magistrates and from tomorrow (Friday), 33 mobile courts will opearate in 33 wards. Four-tier security measures will be taken during the polls, he added.
Immediate actions will be taken if anyone violates the electoral law, he said Issuing a cautionary note.
If voters want the use of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) during the polls, it will be used, the CEC said replying to a query.
