ওসমান হাদির মৃত্যুর খবরে উত্তাল দেশ

After the news of the death of Inqilab Mancha spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi was published, the first victim of anti-India hatred became a Hindu youth named Dipu Das. Following the path shown by Osman Hadi, an enraged Tawhidi mob in Mymensingh brutally beat a Hindu youth named Dipu Das to death on false charges of blasphemy, tied his body to a tree with a rope, poured petrol on it, and set it on fire, burning it.

The brutality and depth of the Tawhidi mob’s hatred toward India can be understood simply by looking at the manner in which Dipu was murdered. This killing exemplifies how vicious and barbaric the vengeance against India and Hindus can be.

A mindset was spread nationwide blaming India for Hadi’s death. As a result, Indian diplomatic missions in Bangladesh were immediately attacked. The Indian Deputy High Commissioner’s residence in Chattogram was attacked, and mobs formed at the embassies in Rajshahi and Khulna, hurling bricks and stones and attempting to set them on fire.

Following Hadi’s death, the offices of The Daily Star and Prothom Alo in Bangladesh were vandalized, set on fire, and looted. During an arson attack on the Prothom Alo office, journalists were trapped inside, and a female journalist was severely burned and is fighting for her life. In Khulna, a journalist was shot dead.

Since yesterday afternoon, all the vandalism, arson, and looting that have taken place across the country have targeted those who wrote news considering India a friend, spoke with minimal support for India on TV talk shows, or expressed such views in writing.

This rampage of anti-India hatred will increasingly spread against innocent Hindus in Bangladesh. Since yesterday, members of the Hindu community across the country have been living in extreme anxiety, fearing when and where the flames of hatred might strike. In many places, kirtan programs have been halted. Religious festivals have been suspended. An unspoken fear prevails among Hindus nationwide.

Notable attacks across the country solely over the issue of Sharif Osman Hadi’s death include:

  1. Attacks on the Indian High Commission offices and residences in Rajshahi, Khulna, and Chattogram.
  2. Vandalism and arson at the main offices of Prothom Alo and The Daily Star in Dhaka.
  3. Renewed arson and vandalism at Dhanmondi 32.
  4. Vandalism and arson at the Chhayanaut office.
  5. Vandalism and arson at the Indira Gandhi Cultural Center.
  6. Vandalism of 32 shops in Uttara and arson at the home of an Awami League leader.
  7. Vandalism at the Daily Star–Prothom Alo offices in Rajshahi.
  8. A Hindu youth in Mymensingh beaten to death and hanged from a tree on allegations of blasphemy.
  9. Renewed arson and vandalism at the residence of the late Mohiuddin Chowdhury in Chattogram.
  10. Arson at the residence of former minister Bir Bahadur.
  11. An attack on news agency editor Nurul Kabir.

Who is creating chaos and paralysis in the country with Osman Hadi’s body placed at the forefront?
