British Couple Mr Ewan Paterson and Katie Halliday recently visited Bangladesh by bicycle as a part of their world tour. They will travel 22000km distance in 31 countries and Bangladesh is one of those. They started their ride on 2nd October 2016 from London and by this time they have visited 12 countries. On 22nd March 2017 they had arrived Dhaka from Yangon by Air as the border was closed. BDCyclist welcomed them and gave a reception in Manikmia Avenue, Dhaka on 24th March 2017. About 200 BDCyclists joined them for a long ride and cyclists had seen off Mr. Ewan and Ms Katie at Rose Garden, Birulia, Savar. Latter the British couple visited Savar National Monument to pay respect for our Independence.
After staying in Bogra and Rangpur, Mr Ewan Paterson and Katie Halliday left Bangladesh 28th March 2017 for India via Burimari Check Post. They will ride to Darjeeling and Kathmundu . From India Ewan & Katie will visit Almaty, Kazakstan , Turkmenbashi , Azerbaijan ,Turkey and Greece. They will end their tour on 25th September of this year returning to London, England.
Cycling also becomes popular in Bangladesh day by day. Many Bangladeshi cyclists started traveling in group or alone. Recent visit of this British couple is really an inspiration for them. Mr Ewan Paterson and Katie Halliday choose only 31 countries of the world in their tour list and Bangladesh is one of those. This is very good news for Tourism of Bangladesh. If we can promote this kind of tour and make the entry to Bangladesh easier, many of such tourist will be interested to visit Bangladesh.
