last 3months, vandalized 15 idols, raped 124 women and 353 children were tortured

In the last three months of this year, 56 journalists were harassed and tortured in different ways, 3 people were killed by the law enforcement forces, 15 idols of minorities were vandalized, 103 houses and 33 businesses were attacked, vandalized and set on fire by miscreants. On the other hand, in the attack on the Ahmadiyya community in Panchgarh, 1 person of the Ahmadiyya community was killed and at least 62 were injured, according to the Law and Arbitration Center (ASK).

Today, Friday (March 31), the organization informed the report of human rights violations based on information collected from 10 national dailies, online media and their ‘own sources’.

According to the report, 3 people were killed by the law and order forces in different places in three months. Among the victims, 2 people were killed by RAB and police and 1 person was shot by RAB. A total of 102 incidents of political conflict and violence have occurred including local elections at various levels. It killed 6 people and injured about 1374 people.

Meanwhile, 124 women have been raped in the last three months. 12 people were killed after the rape. 1 woman committed suicide. Besides, 34 women were tried to rape. A total of 116 women were victims of family violence. Of these, 68 women were killed and 30 committed suicide. 18 women were physically abused.

The report also said that a total of 353 children were subjected to torture and murder in different parts of the country in three months. Among them, 52 children were killed and 1 boy was killed after rape. 25 children committed suicide. A total of 45 bodies of children have been recovered at different times. 3 children died mysteriously. Apart from this, 7 boys were victims of rape and 3 children were attempted rape.

The report on border killings mentions that 5 Bangladeshis were killed by BSF firing and torture. 6 people were injured.

ASK believes that establishing the rule of law and accountability is essential to prevent human rights abuses. Otherwise, a culture of impunity is established and human rights abuses increase. ASK demands the state to take necessary measures to ensure the protection of all human rights of the citizens and speedy justice to the victims.
