Rajib Sharma, Chittagong : Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) president Oli Ahmed on last twesday on 17th April demended the government come up with a Spacific declaration for creating a level- playing field for all parties ahead of the next general election.
“As the election get closer, I denand the government creat a level-playing field so that all parties can hold meetings at their disired venues. The Govt. Should make a specific announcement in this regard, ” he said. The LDP president nade the demand at a press conference at Jatiya Press Club.
He alleged that the rulings party has long been carring out meeting abd election campaign across the country keeping BNP, LDP and all other parties restricted to indoor meetings. Oli observed that the Election commission can not exert its constitutional power as it has become a government -backed institution. He urged the government to engage in talks with political parties for holding the next general election in credible and peaceful manner. Mentioning that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia has been kept in the jail unfairly, the LDP Chief said no step is taken for ensuring the better treatment for her. ” She can at least be sent to United Hospital for treatment. ” The LDP chief also demanded the government Khaleda Zia from jai, and show proper respect for her as she is not only a former prime minister, but also the wife of a freedom fighter. Describing the student movement demending reform Quota system, as justified one, he said the government should reform quota system instead of revoking it for building a marit-based administration.
