International Human Rights Day-2017 observed successfully by Bangladesh Minority Watch today 10th December,2017 for promoting Equality, Justice and Human Dignity at National Press Club-Dhaka and Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) with the help of National Human Rights Commission. The objectives of the sessions is to define ground challenges and way forward actions for promotion and protection of rights of minorities including Dalits, Hijra and other excluded groups in Bangladesh.
Rights of Religious,Ethnic and other excluded groups including Dalits and Hijra Minorities were discussed. Many participants from different groups delivered their suggestions to overcome unabated HR violations in the country.
Inaugural Session of International Conference (Carnival Hall) started on 10.12.17 at 10.a.m. Md. Nazrul Islam, Full Time Member NHRC welcomed the guests. H.E. Rene Holenstein, Ambassador, Embassy of Switzerland spoken on the occasion, Mia Seppo, UN Resident Coordinator & Resident Representative, UNDP Bangladesh also spoken on the occasion. Dr.Gowher Rizvi, International Affairs Adviser to the Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh spoken. Dr.Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, MP Speaker of Bangladesh Parliament was the Chief Guest and spoken. Kazi Reaul Hoque -Chairman of National Human Rights Commission also addressed.
Second Sessions on 11th of December,2017 will be started at about 9.30 a.m. Advocate Anisul Hoque, Minister for Law and Justice will be the Chief Guest on 11.12.17.
