THE NEWS DESK: Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus today proposed a seven-point recommendation to solve the ongoing Rohingya crisis in light of the former United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan-led Commission’s reports over the issue.

The process to establish peace for Rohingya people will have to be started soon. Otherwise, the fear of radicalisation may get deeper,” said the Nobel Laureate in a press statement.

The process of establishing peace for Rohingya people will be delayed and tough due to apathy of the Myanmar government in taking rapid action against the atrocities on the ethnic community, he added.

The seven points proposals are: An enforcement committee with the members of the Annan Commission will have to be formed immediately which will work to implement the commission’s recommendation to put an end to the crisis.

The refugee influx towards Bangladesh will have to be stopped and international observers will have to be offered to visit the affected area in Myanmar.

Immediate measures will have to be taken to take back the Rohingyas who have fled the country in the face of persecution.

A transit camp with the help of the United Nations will have to be set up in Myanmar to rehabilitate the repatriated Rohingya people.

Myanmar citizenship will have to be given to the Rohingya people according to the Annan Commission reports and political independence of the Rohingya people will have to be ensured.
